Yosemite Valley
After the bright city lights of San Francisco, we set off on our National Parks adventure again. Yosemite National Park was the first plot of land in the world to be set aside and protected for the enjoyment of future generations - and boy is there much to be enjoyed!
As with Grand Canyon, the drive in is unassuming. Ours was brightened up by a black bear running across the road right in front of our car:
Then we went through a tunnel and were confronted with this:
El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls and Half Dome dominate the vista. You get a closer look at all of these features and more as you explore the valley floor:

Yosemite is know for it's waterfalls, but not all of them are visible from the valley floor. We decided to hike up to one of the largest, Vernal Falls, via the "Mist Trail." The trail ascends 1000 ft over a mile and a half until you reach the top of the falls. As you can see from the photos below, once you start the final ascent up the side of the falls, things get a little wet, hence the name "Mist Trail." The mist rising from the falling water soaks all who climb the trail but also makes some wonderful rainbows over the falls.
As you can tell, in Yosemite, everything is photogenic, even our campsite:
