(But not of the adventure!) After Yellowstone, we had our longest drive in front of us. In this case, instead of another national park, the road ended at Nick's parents house after three days of driving and 1840 miles. The total mileage after six weeks on the road seeing the national parks?
We left Yellowstone by way of the north entrance and took a short detour to Bozeman, Montana to have a look around. And, yes, this is what Montana looks like:
After stopping overnight in Casper, Wyoming, we made our way through the rest of Wyoming and across the whole of Nebraska to stop in Omaha for the night. By the way, for those of you who don't know, the entirety of Nebraska looks like this:
It wasn't all driving. We did have a little bit of fun on our road trip. We stopped for dinner the second night at a place called Quaker Steak and Lube, a funny car themed chain restaurant that serves chicken wings. Lucky us, there was a classic car rally on that night!. We got to wander, beer in hand, through a parking lot full of classic American cars from the 50s and 60s.
We finally made to Nick's parents' place in Indianapolis, Indiana late on the third day. Our flight to the UK left from Indianapolis and we had a few days to relax, pick up some last-minute supplies, and finalize our packing for Asia. After having a car full of gear for six weeks, downsizing to just a backpack each was a bit of a chore, but we managed.
We spent the remainder of our time in the US of A hanging out with Nick's parents and enjoying their lovely garden:
Next stop, Ireland!

Wow, that is an awesome sun room! I highly, highly recommend a travel towel from REI. They pack super small, don't stink if you pack them wet, and dry quickly. Also, I like the 3m ultrathon bug repellent, doesn't feel gross and it works. I'm jealous of your next leg!
