Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We hadn't planned on visiting Malaysia as part of our world tour but it was the cheapest way to get to Cambodia from Ko Lanta so we decided to give Kuala Lumpur a quick visit (only one day). The city is the second largest in Malaysia and is quite the metropolis with more than seven million inhabitants and frequent international events.

Unfortunately we didn't do enough research on the city in advance to know that visiting the world famous Petronas Towers requires a very early start as tickets are incredibly limited so we decided to take the hop-on, hop-off tour bus around the city to see the sights. We did manage to see the KL Tower and the royal residence from the outside before we decided to ditch the tour bus because it was so bad.

We ended up in one of the larger shopping centers and saw our first reminder that Christmas would soon be upon us:

The following morning we left early for Cambodia and the temples of Ankgor Wat!
