Camel Riding, Ladakh

During our two day trip to the Nubra Valley we stopped off in Hunder, a village at the foot of steep skree slopes set amid sand dunes and desert scrub along the valley floor.  Here we decided to explore the terrain in a new way - on camels, two-humped Bactrian Camels to be precise.

The ride was surprisingly comfortable and the camels docile, although they do seem to have a stubborn streak. Though our ride was short, it was fun and offered a different vantage point for photos of the valley.

After bidding farewell to the camels, we set off on the long drive up the valley and back over Khardung La to Leh. This is our last adventure in Ladakh. From here we head south to Rajasthan.
