Sedona, Arizona

Before heading up to the Grand Canyon's south rim we decided to head to a place called Sedona, just south of Flagstaff. We reached the town by driving through Oak Creek Canyon, a beautiful drive down through a woody canyon which eventually opens at the bottom to give fabulous views of red, orange & white cliffs.

Sedona is set among these rocks and is famous for it's supposed "energy vortexes" - creating a hot spot for new age-ers. You'll find all sorts of alternative medicines and healing powers, psychics and such, as well as the usual tourist attractions making this a popular spot. The energy vortexes are apparently the most powerful in the US but we weren't really buying into it so decided to skip the hikes to the actual vortexes. Maybe next time.... Here's a few pics:

Next up, the grandest canyon of them all.
